PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds also known as PUBG, will be launching a test server to try out new patches before they go live. Starting 4/19, the devs will be implementing their first-ever monthly patch on the new public test server (PTS) which is supposed to address many of the common issues players have been experiencing. These updates include some changes that will increase FPS and optimize the game players on lower end PCs.

While this isn't meant to be the final answer to everyone’s prayers, it is the first of many fixes that will make the game a much more enjoyable experience for everyone in the Battlegrounds community. See the official tweet announcing the PTS below.

How to Join the PUBG Test Server

Follow the steps below to join the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds test server:

  • Launch the Steam app.
  • Allow for the new PUBG update to download.
  • Open your Steam library.
  • Locate the test server game file.
  • Launch the file the same way you would with the normal game.

Once you’ve successfully downloaded and installed the file, staying up to date is as simple as launching the PUBG test server game file whenever you want to try out any of the latest updates. New patches are scheduled to release on the PTS every Wednesday, and after a full day of testing, well-received fixes will be implemented on the live server.

As of right now, the initial update currently being tested on the PTS includes a pretty hefty monthly patch that addresses some client and server side performance problems, gunplay balancing, sound quality adjustment, and bug fixes. There’s also mention of new game content such as a new SMG, motorbike with sidecar, new colors for the Dacia, and much more.

You can find the full patch notes here in the forums.
